On Monday thousands of extra troops were deployed into Chile after a magnitude 8.8 earthquake struck on Saturday. The 7000 total troops will be placed in the areas closest to the epicenter of the earthquake to try and keep order after increased looting, arson, and tensions among survivors in the devastated disaster zone.

In entertainment news, more than 5000 people posed nude in front of the Sydney Opera House on Monday. The participants shed their clothing for a photograph by American artist, Spencer Tunick, who hopes to spread the message that Australians embrace a free and equal society for all sexualities.

Moving on to crime news, investigators are still searching for California teen, Chelsea King, after a man was arrested on suspicion of rape and murder in connection with her disappearance on Sunday. According to the San Diego County’s Sheriff Department, the park where King’s car was found is being thoroughly searched, and authorities are hoping to find the teen still alive.
